Born on the terraces of Chioggia and inspired by the streets of Florence, Luca and Michelangelo’s music takes shape in an intimate and evocative setting. Without the presence of a rhythmic instrument and driven by a shared musical identity, the two musicians create new sonic landscapes.

Both accomplished composers, they have crafted a repertoire that includes original pieces written specifically for this formation, as well as reimagined classics from Italy’s rich musical heritage—ranging from Puccini and traditional Maremman folk songs to the timeless compositions of Ennio Morricone.

Ultimately, Cinema Italia is a meeting point between past and future—where one can dream of what has been and imagine what is yet to come.

BIO

Luca Zennaro is a guitarist, composer, and bandleader born in Chioggia (Venice) in 1997. He was awarded second place at the Riga Jazz Stage 2017 International Competition (Latvia), where the jury included guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. That same year, he was also a finalist in the prestigious Premio Massimo Urbani, winning a scholarship for Nuoro Jazz.

He is one of the winners of the Tomorrow’s Jazz award at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, recognized for his „high-level compositions and group dynamics, where dark sonorities and interplay create moments of intensity and lyricism.“

Michelangelo Scandroglio, despite his young age, is already regarded as one of the most promising talents in Italian jazz. He won the Riga International Jazz Bass Competition and was awarded the Tomorrow’s Jazz prize by Veneto Jazz as Italy’s best emerging talent.

In 2019, he won the Conad Jazz Contest at Umbria Jazz, receiving the first prize from Paolo Fresu. He was ranked second in the 2020 Top Jazz Awards by Musica Jazz as Best New Talent, won the 2021 Getxo International Jazz Competition in Bilbao, and in 2022, he was selected as the only Italian artist for the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
