Between Bossa and Jazz

Following her last performance in Vienna in July of last year, Engu Song returns to the city for her first Vienna concert of 2026.
Since July, she spent much of the year touring and performing in Korea, while also navigating a challenging period marked by health issues that eventually required surgery. With the arrival of the new year, this concert represents a gentle yet meaningful new beginning — a moment to return, reflect, and move forward.
To mark this occasion, she presents a repertoire closest to her heart: Bossa Nova and Jazz, music that speaks softly yet deeply, offering warmth, space, and quiet joy.
For this special evening, Engu Song is joined by Marco Antonio da Costa, a Brazilian guitarist and singer whose musical roots are deeply grounded in the rhythms and lyrical sensibilities of Brazil. His playing carries the essence of Brazilian music — relaxed yet precise, rhythmically rich, and emotionally nuanced — blending naturally with the expressive language of jazz.
The collaboration between Engu Song and Marco Antonio da Costa promises an intimate and finely balanced musical dialogue, where voice, piano, and guitar intertwine with sensitivity and ease. Together, they create a soundscape that feels both unhurried and deeply present, inviting the audience into a shared moment of listening and connection.
Engu Song is a vocalist and pianist whose musical journey bridges continents and traditions. She previously served as a professor in the Doctor of Music program at a Christian college in Canada and has also held faculty positions at university music departments in Korea. Her performances are known for their subtle expressiveness, elegance, and emotional sincerity.
This evening in Vienna is not only a concert, but a quiet celebration of renewal — an intimate night where Brazilian guitar, jazz harmony, and a reflective voice come together to open a new chapter.
